Cirkewwa |
Cirkewwa is my favourite place to dive in Malta, it has 7 different dive sites and has very clear blue waters. It is found at the northwest tip of the island right by the Gozo ferry and is one of the most popular dive sites on the island since it is suitable for all levels of experience.
There are also a huge even octopus. Another wreck that can be explored in the area is the P29 patrol boat. Maximum depth anchor standing on its own, an arch which was created from a cavern which has a large hole in the top, creating a narrow bridge of rock under which divers can easily gain access and some swim through tunnels near the Rozi wreck. Near the arch one can find a lot of fish such as barracuda, silver bream and sometimes at the Cirkewwa site is 36 metres. |
This site has an impressive drop-off from eight to 30 metres. A Statue of the Madonna was placed in a small cave at around 17 metres depth. To dive it one has to enter the Cirkewwa jetty and stay on the reef. The rocks are covered in large numbers of fireworms all entwined as they eat small sea urchins and jellyfish.
