Scuba Diving in Malta

Malta is made up of three small islands (Malta, Comino and Gozo) which have a vast amount of dive sites to enjoy both by shore or by boat perfect for scuba diving and snorkelling holidays.

If you are a beginner we have great conditions to start diving in, crystal clear warm waters that provide you with shallow points for your Try Dive or PADI scuba diving courses. If you are an experienced diver Malta has an amazing selection of safe wrecks and caves at different depths allowing for all levels of divers to be able to enjoy. We keep all our diving simple, No Tec Dives or Decompression dives done here. We use normal air and Nitrox and keep well within the safe dive times and depths.

All diving equipment, compressors, vans and boats are new and well-maintained.

Blue Hole - Dwejra

A shore dive in Gozo that’s sure to put a smile on any divers face. Entry point being just right under the Azure window is already spectacular in itself. As you enter the crystal clear waters in the blue hole, you can start your descent.

Ghar Lapsi

Situated on the south west of Malta Ghar Lapsi, which in Maltese Language 'Ghar' means cave, is situated near Qrendi, a small fishing hamlet. This site offers 2 very different dives. One is a reef dive at a depth of 15 meters and the other is a cave dive with lots of different tunnels to explore.

Carolita Barge

WW2 wreck done as a shore dive on Manoel Island in Marsamxett Harbour with very easy access. The depth varies from 3 to 21 meters as the wreck is lying on a sloping bottom. The wreck is in a very sheltered location and is good to dive on when everywhere else is rough, especially during winter.

UM El Faroud

Size does matter. It was an oil tanker that was scuttled following an explosion in the dry docks when maintenance work was being carried out on it. It lies at a maximum depth of 36 meters.

Patrol Boat P29

The P29 patrol boat of the Condor Class type is one of the wrecks that can be explored at Cirkewwa. P29 is a ship which was used in Germany in the cold war era to patrol the river banks between the east and west and then was used also as a minesweeper.

2 Tugs Marsascala

Located on the south of the island in the village of Marsascala the 2 Tugs lie on a sand base bottom at a max depth of 21 meters. On one dive it is normal to vists both wrecks as they lie only 50 meters apart.

 

Coral Cave

On the opposite side of the Blue Hole you will find Coral Cave which is a fantastic huge semi-circular cavern. This is a lovely pretty dive, great for photographers.

Cirkewwa is my favourite place to dive in Malta, it has 7 different dive sites and has very clear blue waters. It is found at the northwest tip of the island right by the Gozo ferry and is one of the most popular dive sites on the island since it is suitable for all levels of experience.

Zurrieq’s Bell Tower Cave

Located at the south of the island at a very pretty fishing village the Bell Tower Cave is at a depth of 28 meters and has 3 different exit points to insure a safe cave dive.

 

HMS Maori

This wreck is located in Marsamxett Harbour in Valletta. It is a WW2 wreck lying in 16 meters of water and very easy to access. A perfect dive to teach you about some of Malta’s history.

Tugboat Rozi

The Rozi tugboat in Cirkewwa is another wreck which can be found at a bearing of 300 degrees from below the lighthouse. This wreck can be found after about a 100 metre swim. The visibility is between 10 - 30 metres.

Zurrieq Blue Grotto

This dive is made up of beautiful topography and the area is occupied by numerous fish, some of them being painted combers, damselfish, scorpion fish, sting rays and others.

 

Anchor Bay

Located at Popeye’s Village. The cave at Anchor bay makes for a good start to your holiday diving. A max depth of 20 meters and a 20 minute swim gives you time to refresh your skills underwater.
